HERITAGE
(Beethoven's Fur Elise)

I have never been to my homeland far away

But I intend to visit hopefully someday.

A land rich in a history of kings, castles, and kaisers,

An island of mist and Dicken's Miser,

A land of brave men from Northernmost reaches

Who discovered the New World as history teaches.

I have never been to my homeland far away,

But I intend to visit hopefully someday.

A land of rich culture, pyramids, and the Nile,

And Kilimanjaro, and an oasis so fertile.

A land of steamy jungles and hot desert sands,

Elephants, lions, and Gold Kugerands.

I have never been to my homeland far away,

But I intend to visit hopefully someday.

A land on the horizon, far to the East,

Of rice wine and fish and sumo wrestlers obese.

A land of spices and bamboo, an uncountable score,

Great philosophers and mystic lore.

I have never been to my homeland far away,

But I intend to visit hopefully someday.

A land located down under where menacing crocodiles roam,

A desert paradise which kangaroos and koalas call home.

A land of aborigines who know the outback best,

A people who tamed a frontier more wild than our West.

I have never been to my homeland far away,

But I intend to visit hopefully someday.

An island in the Pacific surrounded by beaches of coral,

Coconut trees, exotic fruit, breathtaking and beautifully floral...

A land where people of all races learn to live and dream

In the land where America's day begins.
