HOW GREAT THOU ART!

How great thou art, O Lord my God,
You stretched out the heavens like a canopy,
You filled the night with sparkling stars
That dance and sing of your glory and majesty.

You spoke and the world came into existence;
People, flowers and trees, the fowls of the air,
The beasts in the fields, the fishes in the seas
Ever praise you for your sustenance and care.

Thick clouds of the skies, dark waters beneath,
O, Lord, you've made them your pavilion;
The darkness around you is your secret place,
And your dwelling place of Light is Mount Zion.

Thou only art great, my Lord and my God,
You ride your chariot of billowy white clouds,
You walk upon the wings of the wind while
Morning stars sing your praises aloud.

You are clothed with honour and majesty,
You cover yourself with a garment of light;
Your reins are girded with faithfulness,
Your loins with glory, strength, and might.

Righteousness and judgment together
Are the foundation of your throne;
Your truth shines bright like a thousand suns
Shining gloriously from your heavenly home.

Your doctrine falls upon the earth like rain,
Your speech distils as the morning dew;
Your thoughts are deep, your work is perfect,
And your mercies every morning are new.

How majestic is your name in all the earth!
When I view your works in the night sky,
I am humbled and in awe that you'd call me
Beloved of thee--the apple of your eye.

Yes, I am fearfully and wonderfully made,
Before I was formed in the womb you knew me,
You've searched me and known all my ways,
I cannot hide for everything you know and see.

The clouds are the dust of your feet,
You call by names the stars I see lying here in bed,
You know the number of the sands upon the shore
And the number of hair upon my head.

A thousand years to you are like yesterday,
It's past, it's like a watch in the night;
You have made my days as an handbreadth,
And my age is nothing in your sight.

The nations are as a drop of a bucket,
You count them as the small dust of the balance;
You mete out the heavens with the span and
Measure the waters in the hollow of your hands.

Your knowledge is too wonderful for me,
It's high as the heavens, I cannot attain unto it;
You are great, O Lord, there is none like you,
I bow down and worship at your feet.

When everything around me is in turmoil,
You speak to me in a still, small voice;
You comfort and shelter me under your wings
And give me a reason to live and rejoice.

You hold up galaxies in illimitable space,
Your strong hands guiding and sustaining
Are the same hands that have touched my heart
And lifted up my soul to praise and sing:

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed.

Refrain:

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;

Refrain:

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin;

Refrain:

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art!

Refrain:

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
