What is the greatest value in the world?
Is it any of the seven wonders of the world?
Nay, the greatest value is a human soul,
It cannot be purchased by silver or gold.
To comprehend the worth and value of a soul
Go to Gethsemane where evil came like a flood
And caused the Son of God to suffer in agony
That His sweat was as drops of blood.
Look upon Him forsaken by His disciples,
All alone in Pilate's judgment hall;
Behold Him as they mocked and scourged Him
And caused Him to stumble and fall.
Look upon the Saviour on the cruel cross,
Listen with your heart and hear His cry
"My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"
His mission was fulfilled - He came to die.
You'd know the value of a human soul
When you feel the pain of the second death
And the eternal separation from the One
Who offered free salvation through faith.
When you know and understand immortality--
The honors and glory awaiting the redeemed
Who accept the free gift of salvation,
You'd not want anyone to miss Restored Eden.
When Gethsemane and Calvary become real
Then you'd know the worth of a human soul;
It's purchased by the precious blood of Jesus
Not by all the silver and gold in the world.
When Heaven gave Jesus Christ, our Saviour,
It gave the costliest Gift ever to be given;
If this free Gift is received and appreciated
Then you and I will have a home in Heaven.
When you understand all that's involved
In the fierce battle between good and evil;
You'd work hard in the Master's vineyard
To reclaim those taken captives by the Devil.
You'd give your time, money, and talents
In the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ
That all who believe and have faith in Him
Will not perish but have everlasting life.
His precious promise takes on new meaning:
"I will make man more precious than fine gold,
Even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir";
A soul is of more value than all the world.
