GOD ON TRIAL?
Did you know that this text refers not only To our own judgment but God's as well? God on trial? Ludicrous you say--but These next texts would cause you to marvel. Rom 3:4 says "...You may be justified in your words, And win the verdict when Thou art on trial." Rather than being the Accuser, God's the Accused. This idea of God being on trial at first seems wild. But read the book of Job especially Chapter 9. Many people share Job's sentiments when they question: Where were you, God, when I needed you? Why did my husband's cancer not go into remission? Why do you allow earthquakes, tornadoes, fires, Hurricanes, tsunamis, and floods to occur? If you are God, you could put a stop to all this And spare us the heartaches and headaches we so abhor. God's people and worldlings alike hurl unjust Accusations against Almighty God as if in a daze; But "God forbid; yea, Let God be true but Every man a liar..." God in court would win His case. How is God going to win His case before the cosmic court Of unfallen beings, angelic hosts, the devil and his cohorts? The first Angel of Revelation 14 announces God's trial-- The greatest case history ever to be carried out. It's all about acquitting God and bringing honor and glory To His Holy Name that's so precious through eternal ages; You ask: How is this honorable task to be accomplished? Ah! That is where you and I take center stage. Believe it or not, we are character witnesses in God's trial; We can bring honor and glory to His precious Name And vindicate Him before the cosmic jury and prosecution Casting a vote in His favor OR we can bring Him total shame. The gospel is the power of God to salvation from sin, It's righteousness by faith in Christ Jesus; It would produce a people who are without fault before the throne of God--Oh, that that people be us! When tempted to sin against God, young Joseph Remembered his court responsibility and replied: "How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" Joseph cast a vote in God's favor and so could you and I. But Satan charges that it is impossible to obey God And keep His commandments - He thinks he has a case. But let's prove him wrong by claiming Christ's promise to Present us faultless before God by daily seeking His face. Let's no longer delay Christ's coming to this earth By the lukewarmness and worldliness we have sown; Let's behold Him and become changed into His image Then He will come to claim us as His own. Then Satan's work of ruin is forever ended. The whole earth is full of peace, rest, and quietude; God has won the verdict in court and shouts of praise Ascend to God from a great and joyful multitude.
