Jesus is the Captain of my soul; He guides me thru life's troublous seas, He's at the helm and in control. When my soul is weary and languid He invites me to lean upon His breast; When life's burdens overwhelm me, He gives my soul the needed rest. He pilots me thru uncharted waters Where stormy billows toss so high; He stands at the helm and guides me And never allows me to despair or sigh. When the angry waters roar around me When nights are dark and thunders roll My soul is afraid but He's at the helm! No need to worry or trouble the soul. When the enemy comes in like a flood To overwhelm me with his sophistries; My Captain tells me to meet him with Scripture weapons and gain victories. When a sea of troubles threatens me When difficulties fill me with dread; When doubt and unbelief assail me He shows me the path that I should tread. When my family leaves and forsakes me When my close friends turn against me; Jesus, the Captain at the helm, Says fear not I will pilot thee. At the helm He's guiding the noble ship To God's celestial and peaceful harbor; Where no enemy is there to keep me From being faithful in devotion and ardor. Copyrighted © Lydia Haga 2004 |
