To be or not to be a vegetarian
That is the question many should ask.
Will it be worth the time and trouble
to change one's life style? What a task!
Many debilitating diseases occur because
of a very high saturated fats diet;
Meat is the culprit and should be avoided,
But many people know it but do not heed it.
Cancer, diabetes, hypertension,
high blood pressure, and other diseases
can be virtually eradicated if
man would quit eating as he pleases.
The Creator gave us a diet in the beginning.
This was recorded in Genesis 1:29;
Fruits, nuts, seeds, and grains
are the foods needed for healthy body and mind.
Because of the Deluge, man was permitted
for a season to eat of the clean flesh;
He was to get back to the original diet,
But, alas, he never did and now he's in a mess.
The body is the temple of God and as such,
we are to take care of it by following His plan;
We are to dispense of all that is hurtful and use
judiciously that which is healthful. See Gen 1:29.
Another reason for choosing to be a vegetarian:
God has given us charge over the beasts and all the rest--
A righteous man takes care of his beast,
but the heart of the wicked is merciless.
Slaugtering an animal is a merciless act.
Tears in its eyes, the animal screams in terror;
To eat the flesh of the animal thus slaughtered
would fill me with guilt and indescribable horror.
You'd walk the whole length of the street of gold
looking for pork chops, ribs, steaks, and bologna;
You'd be greatly disappointed, my friend,
because you wouldn't find any.
