A TOKEN OF OUR LOVE
On Valentine's Day
You gave me your heart
And vowed to love me
Till death do us part.
You gave me red roses
A token of your love
You told me I was
A gift from above.
You promised me that
You'd always be there
Through thick and thin,
Through peril and fear
To love and protect me,
To be faithful and true,
To comfort and cheer me
Should I ever feel blue.
Daily we renew our vows
That to each other we'd give
Of our time and devotion
For as long as we both shall live.
We've gone together
Through life's peaks and valleys;
At times life's burdens
Seem too heavy to carry.
We've made it our rule
Not to worry 'bout our tomorrows
With all the uncertainties,
The burdens and sorrows.
Diagnosed with Alzheimer's
The future looks bleak
They told me that
You'd get very, very sick.
You'd not recognize me
Or even know my name,
But I'm not worried about that
I love you just the same.
I promise you that
I'd always be there
Through thick and thin,
Through peril and fear
To love and protect you,
To be faithful and true,
To comfort and cheer you
Should you ever feel blue.
God's grace is sufficient
He will see me through
He will give me the strength
To take care of you.
Whenever I feel lonely and sad
I'll think of red roses, my Love
And know for a certainty
You're a gift from above.
