IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Exodus 3:5
Angels veil their faces when they speak His name,
In humility they come before His presence;
To worship, praise, and honor their Creator,
They bow with greatest awe and reverence.
He is the lofty One who inhabiteth eternity
And dwelleth in light unapproachable;
He is the Omnipotent who created all things
With power and glory that's unfathomable.
With grandeur and majesty He revealed himself
To the children of Israel at Mount Sinai;
His awesomeness they couldn't stand and they quaked
As He thundered His Law from the sky.
The Ark of the Covenant symbolized his presence
It must always be respected and revered;
Those who didn't suffered the consequences for
God and His Holiness must never be severed.
Inside the Ark were housed the Law of God,
The Pot of Manna and the budding Rod of Aaron
Given to Israel with great power and glory
Now to be preserved thru-out their generations.
Maybe you're saying things are now different
We have Jesus Christ so loving and merciful;
Don't be deceived, my friend, our Saviour is
One with the Father sitting on thrones so awful.
Though the Lord Jesus is loving and kind
His love and mercy we are not to abuse ever;
The God of the Old is the God of the New for
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Before His presence we must come with
Humbleness of heart and reverential awe;
We must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth
And His Truths are His Word and His Law.
He spoke His Law and ancient Israel did quake,
Today we should fear to worship God in vain
For it is possible with Bible in hand to teach
For doctrines the commandments of men.
So, let us be true and faithful to our God
Let our worship and praise of Him ever abound,
And let's realize when we come in His presence
We are standing with angels on holy ground.
