LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Phil 2:5
The Bible says "Let this mind be in you,
Which was also in Christ Jesus";
Christ's attitude, thoughts, and motives
Are to be reflected fully in us.
By beholding Him we become changed
Into His likeness so pure and sweet,
But Satan would have us believe
That this is an impossible feat.
He'd do everything to distract us,
To get us busy with mundane things
That we'd have no time in the world
To spend with the King of kings.
He'd whisper softly in our ears
Presenting to us a valid excuse
To watch TV - why, there's nothing
Wrong with watching the news?
The trouble is, the station is anchored
With people with the gift of gab
That before we know it, we've wasted
Precious time that can't be made up.
Not only that, much of the news contents
Are sad, depressing, and gross;
They do not uplift or give peace or joy
But leave us depressed and morose.
He'd surround us with interesting books
We can't help but read from cover to cover,
And before we realize it, time is spent
Not in reading the Word of our Father.
The music we listen to affects our minds,
The world's music is perverse and cheap;
It demoralizes and produces a baleful
Harvest we do not want or care to reap.
God's music is not a funeral dirge
It is cheerful, happy, and uplifting;
It encourages and gives joy and hope
To His people as they wait for their King.
We grow in grace and knowledge of
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
By feeding our minds the kind of food
That's guaranteed to nourish and satisfy.
Yes, the Bible says "Let this mind
be in you which was also in Christ Jesus";
This would surely happen if quality time
With the Lord is the choice made by us.
