THE SABBATH IS NOT JEWISH I once heard a prominent radio preacher say Of the Moral Law we should keep only nine; The fourth commandment is only for the Jews, He didn't know that the Sabbath was made for man. He said that if Christians keep the Sabbath It would make them only second-class Jews; But the Bible says there is neither Jew nor Greek "All are one in Jesus Christ" this is good news. The Sabbath was given to man in the beginning Thousands of years before there was a Jew; It will be kept in Heaven and in the New Earth, Why not keep it now with the faithful few? If Jesus changed the seventh-day Sabbath The apostles would know about it, wouldn't they? But they were mighty silent about it for They worshipped God on the seventh day. The Sabbath is God's blessed institution He gave to man as a memorial of creation That we may know Him through the things created And cultivate and improve with Him our relation. The wonder of God's creation will always Direct our minds to the Great Omnipotence; The mountains, the green valleys below, The blue sky above were spoken into existence. The power that spoke worlds into existence Could change the vile and stony heart; If we would only yield completely to Him For His glory He will sanctify and set us apart. Jesus said "It is lawful to do well on the Sabbath" It's the time to worship God, relieve the oppressed, Visit the sick, feed the hungry, cloth the needy; Take heed, the Sabbath is not a time for idleness. The Sabbath is the time to commune with God, A quiet time for study and serious meditation, To contemplate upon His mercy and His love For dying so that we'll not be under condemnation. The Sabbath is not solely for physical rest We commune with our Father; we sing and we pray This brings spiritual rest and healing of soul. So, why not start keeping the Sabbath day? Some think it doesn't matter which day to keep Just so long as we keep one day in the week, But when God gives us the Ten Commandments He wants us to obey Him in the minutest specific. "Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy" The seventh day, not the first, is the day of rest, We are to worship, honor and glorify the Creator For this is the day that He has blest." Poor old Uzzah didn't live to find out that God means exactly what He said He would do; When we disobey even in what appears small to us We will suffer the consequences, our just due. The Syrian Captain Naaman wouldn't have been healed Had he not heeded the specifics of God's commands; What a lesson for all of us about the nature of God That our love, our loyalty, our obedience He demands. Next time someone says the Sabbath is for the Jews Do not believe him - go to the Source of Light He'll give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding Written in your heart - the Law you'll keep with delight.
