A stranger is knocking
At the door of your heart;
If you do not open
He is sure to depart.
Oh, don't send Him away,
Invite Him to come in;
He'll show you the way to
The Father's home in heav'n.
Lovingly He'll lead you
Through the valleys of green;
He'll nourish and feed you
In His pastures serene.
Beside the crystal springs
He'll lead ever gently;
Your thirsty soul shall take
Of the water of life freely.
He'll mold you according
To His wise and perfect plan;
He has graven your name
In the palm of His hand.
Fierce storms and tempests come
Over sea and o'er land,
But He'll keep you safe in
The hollow of His hand.
Someday He'll take you to
His home beyond the sky
For you're His tender child,
The apple of His eye.
So open wide the door
Don't close it any more
Don't let the Lord remain
A stranger at the door.
