I'LL FLY AWAY
|
Some glad morning when this life is over,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, O glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, O glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joys shall never end,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, O glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
--Albert E. Brumley
Please note that "some glad morning" refers to the Resurrection morning when the redeemed will fly away, not at death. What happens at death is the breath or spirit that God breathed into man at creation and he became a living soul, that spirit or spark of life leaves the body and goes up to God in Heaven. The body itself lies dead, unconscious in the grave waiting to be called forth when Christ shall appear to summon His people home. Then, at that time we can fly away to our Heavenly Home, O Glory! Hallelujah! For more on this topic click here: Where are the Dead?
